Coordinating design with supply

"Research scientist, software developer, software architect, project manager. I've done it all during my career at Philips. Now I manage a Nike-Philips project, developing a solid-state audio player with an FM tuner. To do this, we work with people all over the world - including Nike USA, US and European software suppliers, and Philips colleagues in Europe and India.

We are working hard to coordinate Nike's tough design requirements with the supply base's design restrictions. It is also very challenging to align all the project activities so that all deliverables come together, and we have a final product within the proper time frame.

Traveling the world and working with different cultures has taught me a lot about myself - and enables me to put things into perspective. I also like that Philips offers a stable working environment - if that's what you want. But if you want new challenges, there's no need to change employers.

My current position in Hong Kong requires a lot of time and energy, although I am usually able to separate my professional from my private life. Philips supports us expatriates in Hong Kong with club memberships, and leaves me enough time to spend with my family."
